AWARE announces Corporate Congress

Corporate Congress is scheduled for January 25-27, 2017. For this annual event, AWARE employees are welcome to nominate fellow employees and consumers who will plan for AWARE’s future. The idea is to build on AWARE’s success (40 years now) and to continue on the path toward better outcomes for the people and families we serve.

This year, we’re starting from scratch welcoming nominations for all of the following 23 categories represented at AWARE’s Corporate Congress:

Communities: 1. Anaconda, 2. Billings, 3. Bozeman, 4. Butte/Dillon, 5. Eastern Montana, 6. Great Falls, 7. Helena, 8. Kalispell and 9. Missoula.

Services: 10. Administrative Services, 11. Adult DD Residential Services, 12. Adult DD Work/Day Services, 13. Adult Mental Health Services, 14. AWARE Client At Large, 15. AWARE Consumer Employee, 16. Children’s DD Services, 17. CSCT Services, 18. Early Childhood Services, 19. Support Services, 20. SkyCare (ABA) Services, 21. Targeted Case Management Services, 22. Youth Case Management Services and 23. Youth MH Residential Services.

Official delegates for each community and service will be announced in October.

Mini Corporate Congress coming to each community

New this year, each community will be holding its own mini Corporate Congress. All employees are welcome to join in a half-day session to be held in each community sometime in October. During the mini Corporate Congress sessions, the official elected delegates will be announced. They’ll help lead participants in brainstorming ideas for bills to be presented at Corporate Congress in January.

AWARE hires Tupper as medical director

AWARE Inc. is proud to announce the promotion of Dr. John Tupper, M.D., to medical director, starting August 22, 2016.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Tupper as AWARE, Inc.’s new medical director,” Larry Noonan, AWARE CEO, said. “Dr. Tupper brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role.”

Dr. Tupper is a graduate of Stanford University. He received his M.D. from the University of Texas San Antonio School of Medicine. He attended the University of Virginia, specializing in both psychiatry and childhood psychiatry.

Dr. Tupper has been with AWARE providing outpatient care in Helena and surrounding areas since 2009 as well as 1996-1998. Previously, he  worked as a staff psychiatrist at Shodair Children’s Hospital and held a private practice in Helena.

In his new role as medical director, Dr. Tupper will provide leadership to AWARE’s clinical team as well as oversee AWARE’s statewide mental health service systems. Dr. Tupper will continue to provide outpatient care throughout AWARE communities as needed.

Dr. Tupper looks forward to the challenge of medical director and aims to continue building a strong team of physicians.

“I believe in the services AWARE provides and look forward to playing a key role in developing AWARE’s mental health services,” Dr. Tupper said. “As a growing organization, the impact we have throughout the state is enormous, and I’m honored to be a part of it.”

Dr. Tupper lives in Helena. His oldest daughter attends Montana State University. His family enjoys taking trips together and have all been involved in school and community soccer programs.
