PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY:
This position is responsible for the physical maintenance, security, management and promotion of the vocational (farming) aspect assigned programs and services for AWARE’s Farm in the Falls in addition to vocational supervision implementation of treatment plans and training programs for persons with developmental disabilities in a farming/ranch environment. Provides direct communication between shifts to ensure consistency of programming, and offers assistance with individual, group, and family situations as needed. Supports other community based employment.
Requires a broad knowledge of issues involving those who are developmentally disabled, to encourage greater independence, knowledge of vocational techniques, community resources, marketing and promotion and knowledge of human resources policies and procedures and techniques to enhance employee performance. Interpersonal skills are necessary to work comfortably and efficiently with professionals and para-professionals, confidence of and insight into vocational interactions with clients to address behavioral and emotional difficulties, and leadership skills and role modeling. A high level of both oral and written communication skills is necessary; along with documented computer literacy skills.
A Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) is preferred or an equivalency may be established with the combination of education, experience and/or certifications, experience with vocational rehabilitation. A minimum of two (2) years in a community-based program for the developmentally disabled, education, or human services setting in addition to agricultural experience. Administrative experience with regard to direct supervision of staff. A valid Montana Driver’s License and an acceptable motor vehicle record also required.
