The AWARE University was created with the mind set to align educational topics closely with AWARE’s goals and Unconditional Care Philosophy. AWARE trainings are created to enhance job performance, provide a clear understanding of how to apply this new knowledge and build confidence with the knowledge to do so.

AWARE’s trademarked system for relieving stressful situations by ensuring caregivers are trained to help clients deal with distress – with an emphasis on de-escalating situations before they become a crisis

Medication Certification
State and AWARE certified training to inform and educate staff, who assist and supervise the administration of medications to persons served

CPR/First Aid
American Heart Association certification for CPR and AED learning programs help increase survival rates by training people how to respond to an emergency situation.

Bloodborne Pathogens
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Bloodborne Pathogens Standard is used with a combination of engineering and work practice controls In order to reduce or eliminate the hazards of occupational exposure to infections

AWARE Disaster and Emergency Planning Handbook training prepares employees to be self sufficient for days after an area wide emergency

AWARE’s Behavioral Competency training teaches basic skills to effectively interact with those who have emotional and/or behavioral challenges and support desired behavior across regular routines

Professional Care Giver values to “do no harm” by providing in-depth instruction on abuse/neglect identification, reporting and prevention. Additionally, the course highlights the various aspects and importance of Person Centered Care, as well as a comprehensive review of the Principles of Unconditional Care

Health Information Portability and Accountability Act provides instruction focused on protecting the privacy of individually-identifiable client information and provides for electronic and physical security of health and client medical information

Vehicle Operations
Vehicle Operations training is directed to the safe operation of AWARE vehicles and client transportation

Safety Data Sheets
Formerly called Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), the training is geared toward employees exposed to hazardous chemicals in the workplace, explores in depth each of the 16 sections that make up OSHA’s new styled safety data sheet (SDS) in the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) format

Food Handler
Food Handler training designed to educate employees how to properly handle food preparation and storage to protect clients from food borne illness

AWARE offers, up to 48.5 hours, of annual continuing education requirements for licensed psychologies, clinicians and nurses.

In addition to the above noted training, AWARE has an on-line library of related human service videos, reading materials and additional training topics to assist each employee acquire additional capabilities to perform their jobs and continue to be an essential part of any AWARE’s quality of care.
