The hero within us - Mindy Hayes

Updated: Dec 28, 2021

We all have the potential. The essence of being a hero lies within each of us. It’s just waiting for the right opportunity to blossom. A single circumstance or series of events can unlock our inner greatness if we decide to embrace the moment and make the best of it.

We’ve all done just that, time and again, over the last year. We’ve faced difficult circumstances and pushed into the unknown. Every day we lean into challenges that we never knew existed, and every day we find success. We’re doing great things – we’re helping people live independent lives – and it’s remarkable to see the Healthcare Heroes of this era awaken and find their potential.

Inspired by all of you, we are highlighting employees who have gone above and beyond in their duties. They have risen to the challenge, and they continue to serve our mission despite everything this past year has thrown at us.

This month’s Healthcare Hero is Mindy Hayes (pictured) along with the Little Belts team in Great Falls.

They were recently faced with overcoming the Delta variant as it made an appearance and worked its way through the home.

Mindy dug deep and led the charge one day at a time. She buckled down and kept the focus on quality client care despite overwhelming feelings of anxiety and nervousness brought forward by the quarantine. She did everything she could to keep things light and provided encouragement along the way.

Mindy is a clinician who has been with AWARE more than 12 years. She has worked her way up over those years and is now the clinical lead for our youth mental health residential services. She has shown her commitment to the youth in our care time and time again. And this time was no different.

Mindy and the Little Belts team have walked into the unknown and come out the other side blossoming with color. They are true Healthcare Heroes, and we’re proud to have them on our team. Their dedication and commitment are second to none!

If you know of an AWARE employee who should be recognized as the next Healthcare Hero, please send a tip to Bryon Higgins at bhiggins@aware-inc.org.
