At Liberty Place, Inc., success is as unique as the individuals we serve. For some, success means maintaining as much independence as possible in a supportive environment. For others, it may be moving on to supportive living or even returning to their home communities and reintegrating into society. Whatever the goal, we believe that success should be defined by the individual’s progress, growth, and quality of life.
Since opening our doors in 2004, we have been entrusted by residents, families, and support teams to provide a higher quality of life for individuals living with brain injuries. Some of our residents have been with us since day one, finding stability and belonging in an environment that values their abilities and potential. Their journeys reflect our ongoing commitment to creating a space where individuals can thrive.
One of our success stories is that of Jay. Jay’s life took a drastic turn in 2009 during her junior year of high school when she suffered a traumatic brain injury. She joined Liberty Place in 2015 to participate in our brain injury support program. Initially, it was a difficult transition. Being hours away from her family and familiar surroundings made it challenging for Jay to adapt to her new reality.
However, with time, patience, and the constant positive support of our team, Jay began to come to terms with her circumstances. She learned that she could rebuild her life and find joy and purpose again. As she reflects on her experience, Jay shares, “Liberty Place, Inc. helped me know that I could and would come back better than I ever was.”
Through meaningful connections with her peers, staff, and her family, Jay made incredible strides. In 2020, she reached a significant milestone by moving back to her community. Today, she lives independently, works part time as a CNA/Activity Assistant, and continues to develop meaningful relationships. Her story demonstrates the impact Liberty Place has had and the resilience of those we serve.
Jay’s journey highlights the essence of our mission—to encourage survivors of brain injury to achieve their highest level of independence and enhance their quality of life. At Liberty Place, Inc., we celebrate every step forward, no matter how big or small, knowing that success comes in many forms.
