On Monday, October 28th AWARE celebrated Halloween in style with staff, clients, and community members at the Butte Civic Center. The festivities included a catered lunch, dance for adults living with developmental disabilities and a trunk or treat event. This great day was led by Dustin Harpster and Whitney Cabrera. Thanks to their ideas and coordination, everyone had full bellies, smiles, and wonderful memories of the day.
The dance party was one for the ages. Staff and clients from the Anaconda and Butte area attended, including participants from AWARE, Mountain View, BSW Inc., and Silverbow DD. DJ Philip set the mood with fun songs, getting staff and clients on the dance floor showing off their moves. With a much larger turnout this year, the Butte Civic Center turned into a festive atmosphere with pumpkins, spiders, and cobwebs setting the scene. Attendees enjoyed Taco Del Sol and a spooky choice of drink full of fresh fruit brains (made by our very own AWARE staff).
The costumes were epic. Spotted at the party were Winnie the Pooh, Griz players, Bugs Bunny, Elvis, NASA astronauts, pirates, Charlie from the Chocolate Factory, creepy clowns, crayons and more! Check out pictures here if you dare!
A fun addition to the day was a Costume Contest! It was a close competition with many unique and thoughtful costumes. The winners were a very realistic Pennywise, The Nun, and Sam from Trick or Treat. Check out the winners here.
This event was made possible through the generous support of many community partners and donors to AWARE’s Best Day Ever fund. We are so thankful for all who make special memories like this happen and for community collaboration to add to the excitement. To help us continue offering experiences like this, we invite you to consider making a gift that is meaningful to you at www.Aware-inc.org/donate.
In addition to this great event, our teams participated in festivities across the state.
